Background for the action EU's Green paper on EE states that to change perception and encourage action are desired goals and that information and education are two underused tools. This action uses both to contribute to the development of a sustainable future by increasing knowledge and make children qualified to act on it when it comes to energy.
The Rainmakers concept A common platform, consisting of a universal energy story and one brand are at the core of the concept. Pillars representing children's own arenas; school, internett, TV and event will support the platform. The use of one brand and visual profile is designed to create synergies and recognition between activities.
The project aims at creating one international look and feel for all the presented activities and material. Cooperation with education and communication experts are success factors. Tools and material should capture children's imagination and make energy fun. Kids Corner will be a common European web-platform.

Outcomes are a coordinated mix of existing, adapted and new strategies and material used in programme development and increased awareness, attitudes and knowledge of energy among children. Within education lack of resources is a major barrier. Economies of scale and cost effectiveness accruing from an integrated approach are therefore very central benefits.
Experiences and results (see our final Newsletter) A presentation of the experiences and results from our action was presented at an information session arranged by the EACI in Brussels 1. December 2009. The presentation focused on the successful parts of the project and the results we knew so far. We also mentioned the challenges we encountered in our attempts to get TV coverage and establish clubrooms on the websites etc. We concluded by presenting the vision the consortium agreed upon at out final meeting in Athens: How about branding the EU and EIE programme through the Rainmakers in Europe? We can reach a large number of children and teachers at a relatively low cost by replicating the Rainmakers concept. Teachers and schools are now ready for European interaction. Imagine Rainmakers all over Europe!
EVALUATIONS AND REPORTS: A significant effort has been placed on assessing the impact of the Rainmakers concept and collecting valuable feedback from users of the Rainmakers activities. In the course of the project seven surveys have been carried out, assessing all the activities implemented. Details about the evaluation can be found in the attached evaluation reports.
